Hello, long time no see! (waves!)
Only a quicky post today!
I've been going through a bit of a crochet dry spell. Thankfully that has passed, and I'm feeling far more creative!
For a long time now I have wanted to make a giant granny square, but every single time I do, the middle starts to twist. By the time I'm on round 12 or so it's ruined. I think i have cracked it now!
If I fold it, it's still a square!
I'm quite pleased with how its turning out. Although it's looking a little boring! I have a few ideas to spice it up a little!
Till next time!

P.S. I nearly forgot to say, I'm back at work after lots of years off, hence the humongous gap since I last popped by!

It's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSo good to have you back. Congratulations on your work. This is a lovely granny... Gaia.
ReplyDeleteHiya, how DID you get it to stay square, I would love to know as I am thinking about a giant. Missed you, by the way.

I am very happy to see you again! the lovely granny!
ReplyDeleteLooking lovely, Hayley. Could you please share how you managed to solve the dilemma of the twisting giant granny square?
ReplyDeleteYou can always flip each time you change a colour. This will help it stay square. If you think about a granny stripe blanket, each row is a different way and it still looks good. You colours are lovely. Hope you are enjoying being back in paid employment x
ReplyDeleteHi, Looks lovely. I finished one this week and like Poppy says I flipped each row. This way the blanket stays beuatiful square...Good luck. Helenx
ReplyDeletei like the way to make blankets like these :-)

how beautiful...love your colors
ReplyDeleteSo what was the secret to keep it square? do you use 1 chain on the sides or none?
ReplyDeleteI love the blanket - I really would love to do one of these - have tried in the past and encountered exactly the problem you have had....now, when you say you 'flip' the blanket - what exactly do you do......for instance, when you come to the end of one row do you turn and go back again or do you turn the blanket 'to the other side' and continue...would be grateful to know as this has bugged me for years. Thanks.

To keep the granny square, you do a round on the right side, then you turn it over and do the next round on the wrong side. Right side, wrong side, continue like this for each round.
