Giant Granny Square

Hello, long time no see! (waves!)
Only a quicky post today!

I've been going through a bit of a crochet dry spell. Thankfully that has passed, and I'm feeling far more creative!
For a long time now I have wanted to make a giant granny square, but every single time I do, the middle starts to twist. By the time I'm on round 12 or so it's ruined. I think i have cracked it now!

If I fold it, it's still a square!

I'm quite pleased with how its turning out. Although it's looking a little boring! I have a few ideas to spice it up a little!

Till next time!

P.S. I nearly forgot to say, I'm back at work after lots of years off, hence the humongous gap since I last popped by!

Pretty Pretty Pretty!

Hello!
An especially big hello to the newest followers! Also a HUGE thank you for all of the resent comments!
I have a lot to show you all, so this is going to be  quite a photo heavy post.
This is the edging of my newest blanket. I've used a slightly more subtle colour pallet.
I really want to make a pompom this size! a future project perhaps?

i didn't realise how crinkled the bed was until i saw how the photos came out.

I really have fallen in love with this blanket. it's very light and I love the colours.
I have written the pattern down but still haven't gotten around to wording so that others can read it!

I have also made some more bunting (one of my most favourite things!)

Do you recognise those flowers? They still haven't made it as far as the flower blanket!!!!

before blocking.

During blocking.

I use a little spray starch to keep them nice and flat.
I know you are 'supposed' to let them dry naturally ,but I rarely have the patience to do that. I cheat and normally use my hair drier!  This time I let them dry over night.

I added the little rainbow beads I got from Ebay. and added some tassels!
Yay!! Very pretty bunting. (subtlety not included!)

I hope you like!!! Till next time

Squares

Hello!
I've been making squares the last couple of days.

I'd forgotten how relaxing they were to make.
Best of all they're super fast and easy.

Since the pattern is available all over the place, ( like a normal granny square ) I'll write up a tutorial for them. Hopefully tomorrow!

I've also been tinkering with a new flower pattern.

I'm pleased with how these are turning out.

But flowers will have to wait for a while, as I'm having too much fun with the squares!

The Ebay fairy came to visit me yesterday! Look what she gave me!!

Yummy!

I have just the place to put those! Although I'm quite content to look at them.

I'll leave you with the picture I was given for my birthday.
I totally love it and it's hanging above the computer.

Till next time.

Happy February!

Hello!
Happy February!
Thank you for all your lovely comments about my flower blanket. I will be adding some flowers to the edges soon. All of the loose ends are sewn in, and it's looking nice and neat.

I tried adding an edge/border, but it didn't work out at all. In fact it looked rubbish!

I'm totally loving the idea on the Attic24 blog. Tin can covers.
Here's my one.

They are sooo quick and easy, not to mention cute. I think I'll be making lots of these.

Has anyone tried Tunisian crochet?
I've been thinking about trying  it for a little while, and this morning I bought my first hook.
Here's my first attempt.

It seems very odd to be working crochet and keeping the loops on the hook.
I'm enjoying it though!

  Till next time!

Brightening up January

Hello!
I'm not a fan of January, it's far to dull for my liking.
Time to brighten it up a bit!
Dawn this morning was beautiful.
Very cold
but very pretty!

The main part of my new blanket is done.
I still need to sew in the loose ends, and I'd like to add a border. I think the border will change it from a large crochet square into a blanket.

I made the little fiddly flowers to go with this blanket

I was thinking they would look nice all the way around the edge.

P thinks it might be too much!
I'm not sure, I really love the idea of a blanket surrounded by flowers!

Till next time!

Hello!

Hellooooooooooooooooo!
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and happy any other celebration I have missed!
OMG! It's been far too long since my last blog post yikes!
I know it's a bit of a cliche but I've been in a bad place : ( My health has been rotten too. After an operation and some relaxing recovery time, everything  is slowly getting back on track!

My biggest news is .........................
I passed my driving test WOO-HOO!!!!
I'm still a little scared out on the road. I've suddenly realised just how much you don't get taught. For example, when you use the petrol pump in the Tesco petrol station, you have to push a button to make the pump work. VERY VERY embarrassing on a busy Saturday afternoon! After I went to ask  the (laughing) lady why the pump wasn't working, and found out my mistake, I was far too flustered to carry on, I just got in the car, had a little cry and drove off! I didn't get any petrol that day! ( I have got the hang of it now though!)

I've only recently picked up a hook again. I just didn't feel creative at all.
I have made a couple of scarves.

Once again it's the time of year for a new blanket.

I'm nearly at the halfway point. It works up quite quickly because the pattern is really easy!

I'm not sure what has happened to the pretty background on my blog. It suddenly didn't fit.I'll have to look around and see what else I can find!

It's soooo lovely to be back!
Till next time
